How a Vision Became a Movement
Breaking the Cycle of Pain
The healthcare system in the U.S. is broken—especially when it comes to pain management. Millions of people suffering from chronic pain are met with the same, limited options:
- Surgery—invasive, expensive, and requiring long recovery times
- Injections—temporary relief at best, with studies showing they can actually worsen conditions over time
- Pain medication—a short-term fix that often leads to dependency, side effects, and an endless cycle of prescriptions
For many, the reality is that the best option feels like doing nothing at all.
At StemWave, we believe that’s healing from chronic pain shouldn’t come with sacrifices for both patients and providers.
There had to be a better way—and that’s exactly why we built one.
An Unexpected Beginning
Unlike many founders in the medical technology space, StemWave CEO Tom didn’t start his journey in a lab or a hospital. He didn’t grow up dreaming of creating a breakthrough medical device. Instead, his background was in business, marketing, and understanding how industries evolve.
Tom launched a marketing and consulting firm early in his career, working with companies across various industries. Over time, that work led him into the world of medical devices. His firm began consulting for medical technology companies, helping them bring their innovations to market.
That’s when he started asking deeper questions about the medical device industry.
- Why did some technologies take off while others remained underutilized?
- What made certain treatments more accessible than others?
- And most importantly—what was missing?
It was through this work that Tom discovered one technology that stood out from the rest. The research was undeniable. The results were outstanding. But in the U.S., it was virtually unknown. No one had developed the right technology—or the right model—to bring it to the people who needed it most.
That discovery sparked an idea.
Building a Better Solution
For Tom, it wasn’t enough to simply introduce another device to the market. If StemWave was going to make a real impact, it had to be done the right way.
He and his team spent years researching, refining, and consulting with top experts in the field. They traveled overseas, working directly with manufacturers to re-engineer the technology and ensure it could meet the needs of both patients and providers.
Then, in 2022, StemWave was officially introduced to the U.S. market after undergoing the necessary regulatory processes and receiving FDA Class 1 clearance.
What started as an idea quickly became something much bigger.
More Than a Device—A Movement
From the start, the goal was never just to sell a product—it was to change the way pain is treated.
StemWave was designed to be non-invasive, effective, and accessible. It uses advanced acoustic wave technology to activate the body’s natural healing processes at a cellular level—without surgery, injections, or medications.
But the real success of StemWave isn’t just in the technology—it’s in the impact.
Today, StemWave is used in over 500 clinics and is trusted by top-tier athletic organizations like the Washington Commanders, UConn, Marshall, UMass Amherst, Maryland, and Oklahoma State University.
Providers are seeing real results. Patients are finally experiencing relief. And the movement is only growing.
Making Innovation Work for Providers
One of the biggest challenges in the medical device industry is implementation. New technologies are often complicated, time-consuming, and difficult to integrate into existing workflows.
Tom knew that for StemWave to succeed, it couldn’t be another device that sits in the corner collecting dust. That’s why StemWave was built with providers in mind.
- It’s intuitive and easy to use, with minimal training required.
- Clinics are fully up and running in just a few hours—not weeks or months.
- StemWave provides ongoing support—from onboarding and training to marketing resources that help providers educate their patients and grow their practices.
Because a breakthrough device is only valuable if it’s actually being used.
Looking Ahead
From an unexpected start in marketing to leading one of the fastest-growing innovations in pain management, StemWave’s journey is just beginning.
But at its core, the mission has never changed:
- To provide a smarter, more effective way to treat pain.
- To give providers the tools they need to improve patient outcomes.
- To ensure that people no longer have to “just deal with it.”
We’re proud to maintain a 98% success rate among our 650 providers—meaning nearly all who experienced StemWave’s impact during the 60-day trial chose to keep it.
From relocating offices (including hosting the ultimate launch party) to expanding our team across the board, 2024 was a year of major growth. But we’re just getting started.
StemWave is more than just a device—it’s a movement reshaping recovery, and there’s so much more to come in 2025.
For a limited time, clinics can join the movement risk-free for 60 days. Try StemWave, if you and your patients don’t love it… you don’t have to keep it.
